BAPE STA™ IN Y2K EXPRESSION 

A nostalgic study of color and transparency, inspired by iconic tech of the 2000s

A BATHING APE® (BAPE®) reimagines the BAPE STA™ through a lens of early 2000s nostalgia, drawing inspiration from an era defined by playful technology and bold visual experimentation. Rooted in the energy of Y2K gaming and digital culture, the latest release channels the distinctive aesthetic of iconic gadgets that shaped a generation. 

Referencing translucent electronics such as MP3 players, game consoles, and flip phones, the design translates these techno-driven color languages into a contemporary sneaker form. The pair is constructed with a high-shine patent calf leather upper, complemented by a translucent STA logo and outsole. Vivid gradient hues run throughout the design, capturing the luminous, layered look of early digital devices while creating a striking visual identity on-foot. 

Balancing archival attitude with a forward-looking finish, the release reflects BAPE®’s continued exploration of color, material, and cultural memory—bringing a familiar era into a modern streetwear context. 

The BAPE STA™ is set to release on UK.BAPE.COM and at BAPE STORE® London this Saturday, June 6th, 2026.
