BAPE BLACK’s Fall/ Winter 2021 collection pays tribute to jazz clubs by stitching its signature flair into jazz’s smooth, syncopated notes.

Developed from blues and ragtime, jazz originated from the African-American communities in Southern United States. Constantly evolving, it went through a revolutionary period in the 1960s, giving rise to jazz fusion, where rock instruments such as electric guitar are introduced into jazz to form a completely different style, as well as free jazz, an approach to jazz that is entirely up to the performer’s improvisation. With the unrestrained union of various instruments, timbres and techniques, countless mesmerizing pieces have been composed.

Jazz’s embracement of mix & matches and its mellow yet contrarian nature runs through the entire Fall/ Winter 2021 collection: crisp and neatly cut suits of jazz club performers in 60s are combined with today’s popular wider-cut tailoring to bring out BAPE BLACK’s unique style of luxurious leisure.

To highlight the collection’s theme, BAPE BLACK is coming out with a suit piece with slightly loose tailoring to convey a sense of casualness, while keeping it sharp with its Spring/Summer 2021 Mad Face x paisley print for the jacket lining. It also couldn’t get any cozier with the collection’s wide-cut, loose-fitting unhemmed sweater. The words “BAPE BLACK JAZZ CLUB” emblazed on hoodies and T-shirts, as well as the use of cello and drum kit patterns further weave the theme of jazz into the collection.

The brand has teamed up with Rocky Mountain Featherbed again this season to launch a second collaboration featuring two classic pieces: the down vest and down jacket. Rocky Mountain Featherbed’s iconic leather yoke has been embossed with the Ape Mad Face motif, and the same eye-catching paisley print used for this season’s suit lining is again brought into play.
